Ten found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the couple's significant age difference.
The court handed down suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This latest legal outcome in France is concurrent with the Macrons pursuing a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations opting to give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her digital program and social media channels, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she taught at his lycée.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
